Chief Eugene King

“Chief King was transporting a bank robbery suspect to the station. While enroute, the suspect produced a hidden pistol. In the ensuing struggle for the weapon, Chief King was shot twice in the stomach. He died 11 years later from cirrhosis of the liver associated with hepatitis which he contracted during a blood transfusion while in surgery for his initial wound. The suspect served 6 1/2 years of a 30 year sentence. “
